How the Award will get you there...

SMART Goal: Over the next 13 weeks, I will enhance my leadership skills by organizing and facilitating group events for my Scout group. This includes planning, executing, and evaluating events like holiday celebrations or community initiatives. 

Example Assessor: Scout Group Leader or Event Coordinator 

ORB Category: Life and Vocational Skills 

ORB Subcategory: Leadership 

Example Log for ORB: Planned activities for the Scout Christmas Party, including coordinating games and helping to get the room set up for the event. 

SMART Goal: For 13 weeks, I will improve my physical endurance and stamina by participating in winter camp activities organized by Scouts. This includes hiking, running, and setting up camp, dedicating one hour per week to physically demanding tasks that meet both Chief Scout’s and Award criteria. 

Example Assessor: A certified Scout Leader or Outdoor Adventure Skills Instructor from Scouts. 

ORB Category: Physical Recreation 

ORB Subcategory: Gym/Personal Programs 

Example Log for ORB: Completed a 5km hike and set up a camp during winter conditions, building physical resilience and teamwork. 

SMART Goal: I will dedicate one hour per week over the next 26 weeks to community service projects such as Scoutrees, assisting in local tree planting efforts to improve the environment. 

Example Assessor: A Scouts Leader 

ORB Category: Environmental 

ORB Subcategory: Tree planting and maintenance  

Example Log for ORB: Planted five saplings in a local park as part of the Scoutrees program, learning about proper planting techniques and the environmental benefits of tree care. 

(Completed as a team. Participants will collaboratively establish practice and qualifying journey goals together). 

Example Activity: Plan and participate in a team hike through a local trail system or similar outdoor challenge, meeting the requirements for both the Chief Scout’s Award and the Award. Activities include navigating with maps, setting up an overnight camp, and working collaboratively with peers to complete the journey.
